One year lock anniversary

Dear lock blog...

Today is my one year lock anniversary.. Finally!! Its about time!! My hair has come a long way since short comb coils.. My hair has grown so much this past year.. My hair is locked up.,i don't have to worry about washing it and they unravel..,i can wash them and style them how ever way I like..., now theres only two hurdles I have to jump.. The frizzies and the length.. I want my hair to be a little longer so I can do more styles.. And the frizzies are self explanatory.. that's a goal I have to accomplish...,:)

Almost there!!!

Can't believe that its almost a year since I've started locking.. But for some reason my hair can't get out of that frizzy teenage stage... My ends are the only part of my locks that are frizzy.. I try to twist the lose hairs around my locks but that seems to help for the moment.. Guess it will happen over time.. But I love the whole journey it took for my locks to mature.. All the time I invested in twisting and styling. My hair grew so much in the past year!! I couldn't be more proud.. Now all I have to do is watch them grow longer... My hair had grown so much so fast in the past year.. My hair hasn't grown this much when I had perms in it.. Going natural has its benefits... :)

Blue waterfalls

So I washed and twisted my locks this weekend... which was pretty ordinary right? Wrong! This week I added a twist to the way I style my hair..

A few blogs ago I stated that I wanted to add yarn to my locks to added some style and a different flavor to them... And it was a complete success....

How I did it was simple.... I took a stand of yarn and tied it around the root of my lock. Then I wrapped it around the lock downwards until the lock was completely covered with yarn.. When I got to the end I simply tired another knot at the end..., whatever yarn was left over I cut it off with some scissors...

When I was donedoing my locks I styled it the way u would normally do it... And it came out great.... I'm gonna experiment with different colors and try it in different styles... Its a great alternative to dying my hair... And its versatile.. This week I tried royal blue..., my favorite color..., next time ima try pink...
We will see wat happens...,,:)

Normal twist pics

Here's some pics of my hair while I was twisting it today.. Look at how my babies have matured..

Hmmm what to say..

Dear lock blog,

I haven't washed my locks in a month. Idk why. Maybe its because I've been so busy with work and finding a new job that I haven't focused on my hair too much. I think that's a good thing. At least to let my locks do thier own thing. But even though I haven't washed then in a month I did twist them every two weeks.

Matter of fact I just finished twisting them a few minutes ago. they are coming out beautiful. I have no complaints.. Well that's a lie. They are a lil frizzy at the ends. But that's nothing a lil palm rolling can't remedy. No worries. But my hair is really locked up... I still can't believe it myself., what makes me so proud about this set is that I started it and maintained it on my own. Without the help of salons or anybody else. It was all me.. They say if your want something done right either do it your self our hire a professional to do it. I guess I can say I fit into both those categories.

Lately I've been trying to figure our ways to take my locks to the next level. I want to dye them again... I want a rich auburn color in my hair.,i had it before and I loved the color.. That I'm gonna do..
This lady came into my store with yarn twisted in some of her locks.. I asked her where does she go to do that to get her hair. She said she does it herself. She told me how she did it and now I wanna test drive it for myself. I like how you can use different colors to take your hair to the next level.. Its fun and its creative and its versatile..

When I get some money I'm gonna buy the yarn and do it myself..

I would say ” I'm gonna post another update soon” but honestly I don't know when I will so just be on the look out

Lock-dom finally!

Dear lock blog,

Sorry I haven't updated in a while.. Been busy and caught up with work that writing a blog entry has completely slipped my mind.. But tonight I had to write one because I think my journey to lock-dom is almost complete.. I'm so happy..  My ends are done locking! Finally! Its do easy to twist and style my hair now. The only hurdle that I have to get over is the frizzies.. Ugh!!! They can be a real pain in the ass. I try to wrap the loose hairs around the lock and that seems to help.. But it doesn't last.. palm rolling helps alot in shaping and molding my locks..

I wash, twist and style my locks every two weeks.. basically I style them and leave them alone.. Majority of the styles I do are updos because they last longer and I don't get to constantly pick In my hair.

I wash my hair in castile soap every two weeks. It comes In different scents like black soap, peppermint, sweet almond and lavender. It really helps in getting rid of the build up on my scalp which helps my hair grow better.

I haven't really been oiling my scalp much.. :( I know but it slips my mind all the time..

This month should the one year anniversary of my last set of locks.. But this set's anniversary is in november.. I figured this set would lock faster than my first set simply cuz my hair didn't have a perm in it. And it did lock faster...

I will try and see if I can write a blog when my frizzies are gone.. Only then will my locks be done and have reached maturity..
See you later

Update :)

Dear loc blog

Sorry I haven't updated on my locking progress. I've been so busy with work and school that I haven't had the time to update.

But u gotta know that my locking progress is going great. I can't even explain it. My hair is officially in its teenage stages. The ends of 95% of my locks are matted completely. All of my locks are matted. 2 or 3 of them aren't matted at the ends but the rest of the lock is matted.

I'm so glad that my hair is in the teenage stage. Its so much more easier to wash my hair now becuase there's no unraveling at the ends.. But I just have one more hurdle to jump to reach full "lockdom". The FRIZZIES!

I started goin to the gym to work out and get back in shape. When I go into the gym my hair is neat. But when I leave my hair is frizzy.. A fellow friend of mine told me to wear a satin scarf. It helped a little bit.

So now I twist my hair every week.. I wash my hair with shampoo every two weeks. But in between washes I would run water through my locks like every other week and twist them. Just to keep them looking fresh.

My next wash will be this Saturday.

Styling my hair... Finally

Dear loc blog,

Yesterday was the first time i designed my hair. ever since i cut it in july i havent been able to style it the way i want to. And now that it has grown a lot, i have been able to style it.

i went to the beauty supply store to buy some curling rods so i could curl my hair of course. and when i did that it didnt come out the way i wanted them to. they were curled of course but i didnt like the way they looked on my head. it was cute but in a childish kinda way.

so today i braided up my locks and left the top middle of my hair curled. Actually i put the curling rods back in so they can look fresh for when i go to school.

As far as the locking process goes... its amazing! my locks are coming out beautiful. when i wash them they dont unravel, its so easy to twist them now. dont get me wrong they frizz up every now and then but since i can style them now, i dont think i have to worry about it too much. i think its gonna be smooth sailing from now until they mature fully. they are definitely matting and are feeling more and more mature with every wash.

ive still been using black soap shampoo products for my hair. just two days ago i found this sweet almond shampoo for my hair. it has the same ingredients as the black soap shampoo and the peppermint shampoo except that it sweet almond scent to it. i love these products simply because they have all the moisturizers you need and its all natural. Im still using JML products which have also been working wonders on my hair. I dont know why i stopped using them in the beginning. they oils are great.

i think ima wash my hair in two weeks i dont know i would have to see. until then! :)

Wash and Separation

Dear loc blog,

I was suppose to write two days ago but I was busy dealing with some issues..

Saturday I was going thru my locks and realised that some were bigger than the others. So I separated at least 6 of them. Then I counted them and found that I I have at least 86. That the same amount I had in my first set..

Then I washed my hair with peppermint castile soap. And I twisted it. Nothing special.. :)

Next saturday, ima dye my hair golden brown.. Ima post up pictures...

New Trick

Dear lock blog,

As long as I have been locking along the way I've been discovering a few tips and tricks that help me along the way. And I just discovered a new trick that I think can help me lock a little bit faster.

I love washing my hair but I can't wash my hair every week because that will slow down the locking process. I like twisting my locks every week just to keep it looking fresh and neat. When I twist it, I use a spray bottle with water in it to make it easier to twist.

Well yesterday I wanted to twist my hair but I didn't want to use the spray bottle. So what I did was this: when I was taking a shower I just decided to let the water run on my hair. I didn't use any soap I just let my hair get wet. And my locks didn't unravel at all. They stayed put.

So this made it easier for me to twist my hair when I was done because I didn't have to use my spray bottle. And plus I only used a little bit of firm wax to twist my locks.

My locks are starting to matte up and bud. Its like they are locking up so fast that I know I won't be able to put a comb through them. I'm glad to see that. So I can wash my hair with soap every two weeks and just rinse my hair every two weeks.

If I keep doing this my hair will be locked up in no time.
